How It Works
Skin Deep
A single cell in the sea that formed over millions of years developed
after many more millions of years into a complex multi-cellular form
that eventually found it necessary to separate its own internal environment
from the sea with a living wall that had holes in it for substances
with the right keys to pass and for things it didn't need to leave.
When it reached the land, it was taking the primitive sea with it.
The skin is an active structure with two surfaces, an external surface,
or epidermis, and an internal surface, or the dermis, that together
form a dynamic living wall. The epidermis serves as a barrier to the
outside world, keeping out water sunlight, insects, germs, heat and
cold, dirt, and gases. It keeps in fluids, such as water and blood,
minerals, vitamins, hormones, proteins and heat. With the dermis it
provides for heat regulation of the entire body by controlling sweat
evaporation and dermal blood flow. It provides a waterproof outer layer,
yet permits water to carry nutrients to the outermost living cells.
It serves as a waste disposal system, ridding the body of many toxic
substances, and it provides a tough outer layer to resist friction,
abrasion and pressure. Most of human life hangs on this multi-layered
0.0030 inch-thick "horn layer." It's our only real solid protection
against the whole environmental world. That it is so thin is truly startling.*
The epidermis is also very active metabolically. It provides a system
that allows replacement of the outer cells lost to the environment.
How fast these dead skin cells fall off and are replaced determines
the condition of your skin, and the goal of good skin care has always
been to speed up the natural exfoliation process which by mid-life slows
down to 45 days. Children and teenagers have softer, smoother looking
skin simply because it is renewed more often.
"New You" has the right balance of depth, speed and
protection necessary to reawaken and maintain the same frequency of
renewal that accounts for the bloom in the radiant complexions of children.
Epidermal Kinetics vs. Inflammation
In Stimulating Skin Replacement
Invasive products exploit your body's capacity to heal. The desired
re-epithelization of the skin occurs because of an increase in cellular
proliferation stimulated by the destruction of tissue. It is injury
by design, which is unnatural and unhealthy while the benefits are not
long-term, and permanent damage could result. Furthermore, the elastosis
produced from inflammation actually accelerates wrinkling.
"New You" cooperates with your body's natural ability to correct itself
by stimulating the production of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) which
occurs in response to the dramatic shedding of skin. With extended use,
an increase in rate of cell turnover occurs as a result of your skin's
biochemical need to keep its valuable protective barrier continually
reinstated, called "epidermal kinetics."
In fact, all the growth activity of the epidermis is in preparation
for a new corneum. The basal cell layer contains the living cells that
divide and differentiate several times until they reach the surface
where they must become inanimate to serve their purpose. The rate at
which these cells fall off and are replaced slows down with age and
other factors, including the possible lack of essential nutrients associated
with your body's ability to effectively shed dead skin. If allowed to
accumulate they begin to obstruct the regeneration process.
Invasive and irritating products burn into and even beyond the basal
cell layer, disrupting the biochemical pathways of natural skin replacement.
The resulting inflammatory reaction goes through stages of resolution
designed to first destroy the invaders, then the undamaged basal cells
regroup or migrate and proliferate in areas where the epidermis may
need to be rebuilt from scratch, in which case skin never attains its
full normal strength, and visible scarring can occur.
"Considering all the peels used by physicians and estheticians,
it could be assumed that all is known about the desquamation process,
the basic chemistry of the stratum corneum. This is not the case. Although
enough has been learned in the past five years to understand some of
the things that must be known to keep this process normal, perhaps no
other area of skin care is neglected as much."*
Regardless of all the new scientific findings, the rest of the industry
is still promoting invasive techniques! This is because they can not
come up with a better solution to remove the stratum corneum and only
the stratum corneum without overpenetrating or over peeling. Bé Bé Visage
alone has got the secret and has re-invented skin resurfacing as we
know it, making invasive techniques obsolete years ahead of the rest!
"New You" is the outcome of honoring the vital necessity
of keeping the desquamation process normal. Our focus on the centuries-old
medicinal use of Aloe for skin coincidentally lead us to the discovery
of an enzyme that not only effectively removes the corneum, it protects
the very sophisticated bio- chemical reactions that spawn and govern
the maturation of new epidermal cells in the process.
It is, without exception, the most advanced and exciting facial in
the marketplace today. Bé Bé Visage, meaning baby face, restores the
silky smooth and baby soft complexion you may have forgotten you ever
had!
All the Products Work Synergistically Together
Four other products in addition to the enzyme exfoliator, "Enzyme
Force," come in the kit and are used on a daily basis. The products
are all designed to work synergistically together:
Hydrating Cleanser. This is a special cleanser designed to prep
the skin for the exfoliating enzyme. You cannot use water, you wipe
it off. You can use water with it on a daily basis between weekly facials.
The Jojoba Bead Scrub is an exceptional, light, gentle granular
scrub that massages the skin. Jojoba micro beads gently buff away remaining
cellular debris after the New You facial. It fine polishes the skin
to a radiant glow without abrading and accentuates your skin's response
to the facial. On a daily basis it removes surface debris that clogs
pores and dulls skin, gently opens congested pores and sweeps away dulling
surface oil and flakes.
Nature's Pearls in the kit (ceramides) restores lipids. Your
skin metabolizes lipids which are its only source of energy for cellular
movement. They are lost with everyday cleansing, let alone exfoliation.
In addition to exfoliation, the major factors to healthy and younger
looking skin are fighting off free radical invasion with nutritional
antioxidants, and restoring the lipid barrier of the skin. Ceramides
are the building blocks of the lipid barrier. Antioxidants are the special
nutrient ingredients that fight free radical invasion (healthy cell
disease or degeneration).
Ceramides make up approximately 40% to 65% of the total lipids of the
stratum corneum (second layer of the epidermis). Ceramides major role
in the skin is to provide structure of the skin and to maintain the
lipid barrier function of the skin. There are six ceramide families
in the human epidermis, each serving a different purpose. They are recognized
as important regulators of cell-proliferation and differentiation. Ceramides
are highly insoluble, and are ideal building blocks for the lipid barrier.
The lipid barrier is the skin's first line of defense for aging.
Additionally, Ceramides reduces depth of winkles by approximately 30%,
retain longer-lasting water retaining capacity, decrease skin roughness,
help correct structure, maintain constant quality and improve elasticity,
improve the barrier function, restore detergent-damaged human skin,
protects healthy human skin against detergent-induced dermatitis.
So in addition to the system containing the most powerful as well as
non-invasive exfoliator, it addresses all the other important areas
of skin care and is the only skin care you will ever need.
The fifth product in the kit is the Replenishing Moisture Creme,
a non-clogging nourishing Aloe-based moisturizer. There are 5 products
in the kit with Aloe at the top of the list of ingredients in 4 of the
supporting products used on a daily basis. Aloe of itself is powerful
medicine for the skin. Its natural anti-microbial qualities enable the
body to fight infection and promote healing; it contains bio-chemical
compounds which help rid your body of cellular debris; it helps your
skin attract and hold oxygen; it reduces oil in oily skin, balances
combination skin, produces a definite tightening, and reduces the size
of pores.
For acne/oily skin WLA5X Gelly is sold separately (only $9)
and is used in place of Nature's Pearls until the skin becomes balanced
out.
The whole kit represents a savings of $45 over buying the items individually,
and you don't always have to buy the whole kit. After your initial kit
you can purchase the products individually as they begin to run out.
There are 10 tubes of enzyme, enough for 10 weekly facials, so they
will run out first.
Remember, health is perceived as youth. The epidermis has no blood
supply of its own, so its nourishment depends upon healthy blood circulating
in the dermis. The healthier your lifestyle, like a wholesome diet,
exercise, enough sleep, no smoking, limited consumption of alcohol and
the use of sunblocks, the better you will feel and the more youthful
you will look, not to mention how much healthier your new replacement
skin cells will become.
